Business never more competitive than it is today. In order for any business to be competitive it has to have an effective marketing plan. Marketing is very important for any business; poor marketing means poor sales and therefore low revenue. How a business can succeed or fails depends on how effective the marketing campaign is. Effective marketing demands a lot of thought and careful planning to be successful. Companies the world over spend a huge fortune for their marketing effort. They hire specialists, consultants and analysts to make sure that they have an effective marketing plan and strategy.
Advertising is one effective way for any business to market their products and services. There are many ways to advertise. You can advertise through print media like magazines and newspapers. You can advertise through TV. You can advertise through the radio. You can also advertise through the internet by having a website for your business. Businesses pay large sums of money to advertising companies to formulate their advertising campaigns. Businesses would do almost anything to boost their sales and their revenue. They put so much emphasis on marketing and generating sales that some businesses would go as far as lying. It might sound farfetched but it is true. There are businesses that would cleverly misrepresent their product and services through the use of very attractive advertising. A lot of companies selling consumer products would advertise their products to the masses and showing them how good their products are but once you purchase their product you will realize that you've been had. This is what we call false advertising which is really no different from a scam. Although such tactics still work and a lot of people still fall for it, companies that use this kind of marketing strategy usually don't survive for very long. Once the people find out what you're up to they will not patronize your products anymore. You lose your clientele and in the end you end up losing everything.
Truth in advertising is very important. In their pursuit of greater profit these businessmen tend to forget that people are not stupid and they know when somebody is taking advantage of them. While false advertising may drive your profit margin up, it is only temporary. Once your clients realize that you have falsely advertised your product or service you in for it. After that your profit margin might plummet to zero and then your business will start losing money. You'd be lucky enough if none of your clientele filed a formal complaint against you. A lawsuit could be very expensive for any business, especially a losing business.
Truth in advertising is very important. False advertising can ruin a company's reputation and it's not easy to build a company's reputation. Almost all types of business are dependent on return customers and false advertising is not any help in this aspect. Focus more on the quality of your products and services; advertising is just a part of business, it's not everything. Marketing is more effective if backed by good products and services.
